Assuming glass thickness=T
1. Corner and slotting
Prohibit sharp inner right angles! The minimum rounded corner R for all inner corners is ≥ 1.5 × T; sharp corners generate stress concentration and are prone to explosion due to alternating hot and cold temperatures;
Long narrow groove: groove width ≥ 1.2T, avoid narrow thin plates as much as possible.
2. Hole opening rules (customized tipping points in large quantities)
Minimum aperture: ≥ 1.0 × T; recommended ≥ 1.5T to reduce edge breakage and cracking;
The distance from the hole to the outer edge of the glass is ≥ 2 × T;
The net distance between holes is ≥ 2 × T;
After the completion of through-hole/countersunk hole processing, the inner wall of the hole must be chamfered/polished to remove micro cracks;
Do not drill holes tightly against the edges.
3. Thickness selection reference
Optical protective film, display screen cover: 1.0-2.0mm
Conventional instrument window, water cup container: 2-5 mm
High pressure, industrial observation window, pressure bearing condition: 6-15mm
⚠️ The same piece of glass should have a uniform wall thickness as much as possible, and areas with sudden thickness changes are prone to stress concentration.
4. Reasonable tolerance setting (do not blindly pursue ultra-high precision)
Conventional waterjet/CNC cutting: external tolerance ± 0.2~± 0.5mm
High precision laser processing: ± 0.05~± 0.1mm
